Timber Trail Warm-Up Ride

Open to everyone with a suitable mountaine bike or hybrid gravel bike.  Not suitable for road bikes.

This ride will start at the Pokaiwhenua Bridge Carpark on Horahora Road and will follow the cycle trail south through the Little Waipa Reserve and onto Arapuni Village, via the swing bridge at the dam.  We will pause for lunch at the Rubarb Cafe.  We will then ride back to the Pokaiwhenua Carpark.  The total riding distance is 23km, approximately half the distance to be cycled on the Timber Trail the following week.  However, this is an Intermediate Grade 2 track, whereas the section of the Timber Trail we are riding is predominantly Grade 1.

This ride will provide an opportunity for those who are unsure of their ability to tackle the longer Timber Trail ride to test both machine and self ahead of time.

For maximum enjoyment, it is highly recommended that particpants train for both these events and should be comfortable cycling 40km
