Lisa Weber from VOSH was present to receive the $1,500 donation from President Scott Burger. A bag of eyeglasses were also donated that will be distributed to those in need in Mexico, Nepal and Paraguay.
We had a Board meeting last week and here's what we did:
Donated $360 to Common Hope, a scholarship program sponsored by the Puerta Vallarta Rotary Club with whom Ginger and Jack Overbye have a great relationship.
Donated $1,500 to MOMS (Making Our Moms Successful) to start their emergency fund and children in need fund. MOMS provides mentorship to single mothers in Dakota and Scott Counties, providing support networks and resources.
Donated $1,000 to Breath of Hope, a lung cancer awareness organization, for their radon education program.
Rayna reported that she is working on our Charter Night event to celebrate our Club's 26th birthday.
If you're feeling the itch to become a more active member of the Club, taking the lead on a fundraising event, organizing a dinner, celebration or committee, then we have many opportunities for you!
Rotary Board: Soon-to-be-President Johanna will be selecting her Board members in the very near future. The new Rotary year starts July 1. If you are interested in serving, contact Johanna!
Moonstruck Chair: Our biggest fundraiser of the year needs a leader. The bonus is that as Chair, you may designate half of the proceeds to the charity of your choice! Interested parties should submit a letter to President Scott indicating their interest and naming their charity. The Board will vote on the winning submission.
Rotary Rose Chair: If you would like to chair this super-easy and quick fundraiser, contact President Scott. Orders are taken in March and deliveries are made in April on Administrative Assistant's Day.
Just a friendly reminder to check the Speaker Assignment list to see when it is your turn to find speakers. When you have a speaker, just email me (Bulletin editor) with the name of the speakers or organization, the topic and any technological needs. Remember that you are grouped with a team of Rotarians for your month so you are not burdened with finding speakers all by yourself! A helpful list of potential speakers can be found on the aptly named "Potential Speakers" link. If you're not on the Speaker Assignment list, count your blessings. You will be next time.
