Strong Europe, What the US Military Sees as its Role in Today's Reunited Germany

Matt Fulton's brother, Dave, will be speaking to us from Germany via Skype on this special presentation entitled "Strong Europe."

There was a time when a quarter-million US military personnel were stationed in West Germany, back when the so-called "Fulda Gap" was seen as the natural path for Warsaw Pact tanks to roll into central Europe. That was during the Cold War, and with its end, the US Army responded by reducing its forces in Europe down to less than 40,000 military personnel.

Just what the US military sees as its role in today's reunited Germany is the topic of our speaker on July 15th. That Weds morning, (from 7:45 AM via the technology of the internet), Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Dave Fulton, Director of the Wiesbaden Mission Support Element for the U.S. Army Europe will talk about "A Strong Europe." As the Army has continued to downsize in Western Europe, it has been building strong relations elsewhere. Dave Fulton will give us some insight into the US force posture in Germany and in other regions. A graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point and the Army's Command and General Staff College, Dave Fulton is based in Wiesbaden, Germany.
