El Defensor Chieftain won the General Excellence award in the New Mexico Press Assn's Better Newspaper Contest, the highest award for it's classification. Scott Turner Chieftain Editor and Publisher said "We're honored to win the award for General Excellence." Socorro Rotary is honored to have the Chieftain as a Business Member and proud of Scott.
