Hope you all remembered to set your clocks back for the end of daylight savings time.
The origin of U.S. daylight saving time (DST) was as a wartime energy conservation measure during World War I. The Standard Time Act of 1918 was the first law to implement it nationally, though it was repealed after the war. DST was reintroduced in World War II as "war time" and was eventually standardized nationwide by the Uniform Time Act of 1966.
This week's speaker is Nick Busse, a 13-year veteran of the U.S. Army who completed two tours of duty in Iraq. After his military service, he transitioned to the corporate sector, where he currently serves as the Head of Military Relations and Talent Programs at Leaf Home. Beyond his corporate career, Busse dedicates himself to veteran advocacy and community service, and he will be sharing about that journey.
Law Enforcement Career & RPD
Last week's speaker was our new member, Captain Luke Sincerny, Operations Division Commander for the Rocklin Police Department. He shared about a career in law enforcement and his journey from the Oakland PD to the Rocklin PD. And what motivated him to make the move to a new area, as well as the contrast in policing between the two cities.
There was also the return of the Bell that had been missing since our Club’s celebration following the Board’s induction of President Damian, as you can see above in the lower right. It was the caper of all capers. It was a tale not to miss, just a hint below of what you missed in the tale of the missing bell. Maybe more of the story will unfold in future newsletter editions.

Service Opportunity

Our Aerospace Museum Tour event is coming up in less than two weeks. The project involves RUSD middle school students who are part of the school's STEAM program. Students participate in a docent-led tour of the California Aerospace Museum.
The tour is designed to engage students in the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) by exploring the history, technology, and science of aerospace. Rotarians join in the docent-led tours, and we join the students for lunch. Reminder, our lunch meeting will be taking place at the service event as we join the students for lunch
The tour date this year is on Wednesday, November 12th, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Before you know it, we'll be doing our annual Christmas Gift Baskets. We assemble and distribute bags filled with toys, clothing, essentials, and even gift cards to approximately 15–20 families in need. More information coming soon.
