National VFW Day is observed annually on September 29 to commemorate the founding of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). The day celebrates the organization's legacy and the service of its members, who are primarily combat veterans.
This week, we have a field trip to Mindscape Fermentations at 5424 Crossings Dr, Suite 105, Rocklin. It will be a special lunch meeting with the business owner, learning about their business. Mindscape is one of the other great libation experiences at the Rocklin Brewfest. So be sure not to go to the usual meeting location, or you will be on your own. Come on out for the field trip and expand your mind.
Your Rotary Brand Position
We had a cancellation, and our very own Stacey Cordova jumped in to save the day with a talk on Your Rotary brand position. It was an encouraging and heartwarming talk. She shared how Your Rotary brand position is the story that connects your why to Rotary’s impact. When talking to others, don’t just explain what Rotary does — share the ripple it’s created in your life, your community, or the world. People don’t join clubs; they join causes and communities that move them, so your personal story is the key to inspiring them to step in.
Service Opportunities
In less than two weeks, we have a couple of opportunities for you to Expand Your Rotary brand position, get the word out, and support some great organizations.
On Saturday, October 11th, we will attend the Placer SPCA Wags & Walk event. This new event replaces Barktoberfest, which usually occurs around this time. Get your leash, rally your pack, and join us for Placer SPCA’s first-ever community fun run for animal lovers and their canine companions.
Then, on Sunday, October 12th, we will be at the RockPAL Cornhole Tournament. The Rocklin Police Activities League invites you and your partner to compete in the 3rd Annual Cornhole Tournament fundraiser- helping to raise funds for Rocklin youth!

Also coming up in less than three weeks is the Feed My Starving Children event. Please join us and other Rotarians for the 15th Annual Placer Feed My Starving Children MobilePack on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 11:00 am at St. Matthew Church on Placer Corporate Drive in Rocklin. Families are welcome, including kids as young as 5, and there are jobs for everyone, including those who’d prefer to sit for the two-hour shift.
