This week's speaker is Alexandra Castillo-Weisgerber, the Director of Care and Support for the Alzheimer's Association Northern California, Northern Nevada chapter. She will share the organization's mission to lead the way to ending Alzheimer's and all other dementias by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. She will focus on the work done on a local level to provide care and support for all those affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias.
No Club Meeting
There was no club meeting last week. We hope you all enjoyed time with your family and friends. We are now full steam into the holiday season. Reminder we have many opportunities to give thanks, share our joy, and bless others over the coming weeks
Rocklin Tree Lighting Festival
Reminder: Join us this coming Saturday, December 7th, for the 17th annual Rocklin Tree Lighting Festival at beautiful Quarry Park!
Our club runs a booth serving hot chili to the public at no charge. Students from local Interact Clubs participate and run the booth with the assistance of Club members. It's a great way to get into the holiday spirit and support this civic celebration. See the events calendar for more information and an opportunity to serve the community.
Below is our booth at last year's event, run by the WH Interact students and our club members.
Diaper Drive
1 in 3 families does not have all the diapers needed to keep their infants clean, dry, and healthy. Students at Sierra College who have small children frequently face an even greater challenge in this area relative to diapers and formula, along with balancing family, school schedules, and work. We have the opportunity through our Diaper (and Formula) Drive to help Sierra College students who have small children ensure they are able to focus on their education and provide much-needed care to their children.
Between November 23rd and December 11th, we will collect donations of diapers, formula, and money (should you choose to donate money to purchase items on your behalf). The donations can be brought to our Club lunches/meetings or dropped off at the Broadway Residence, 2004 Denton Ct, Rocklin, CA 95765. A large box will be placed on the front porch for dropping off items. If you wish to make a monetary donation, please contact Ken Broadway or send via Venmo (@Broadway2024) or PayPal (dbroadways@sbcglobal.net).
The following items are needed:
Diapers (size 1 – 5)
Formula (Similac, Enfamil, Good Start, Earth’s Best, etc)
Sock Drive
We are collecting socks from November 23rd through December 11th and are looking for donations of women's, men's, and kids' socks. All donated socks will be delivered to the Rocklin Chamber of Commerce for distribution to Lighthouse, KidsFirst, and Stand Up Placer. Socks are often the most needed and least donated item received at local shelters and support locations. Socks can be dropped off at our lunch meetings or in the container on the front porch at 2004 Denton Ct, Rocklin. Last year, we collected over 524 pairs of socks.
Let's make a difference in the lives of Sierra College students and families throughout Placer County.
