In the Rotary calendar, August is designated as Membership and New Club Development Month. This month is dedicated to focusing on membership recruitment and retention within Rotary clubs worldwide. It's also a time to celebrate the contributions of existing members and the positive impact Rotary clubs have on their communities.
This week's speaker is Gary McDonald, Executive Director at Stand Up Placer. He will be sharing about their mission to save lives by empowering survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, and to educate communities to stand up against these issues. They achieve this by providing comprehensive services, such as emergency shelter, housing, counseling, legal support, and community awareness programs, to survivors and their families in Placer County. Gary will be sharing more details about their programs and ways to get involved and support.
Legislative Update
Last week's speaker was Congressman Kevin Kiley, California, District 3. He shared a thoughtful, nonpartisan legislative update on what has been happening in the district and in Congress. California’s 3rd Congressional District is the most geographically diverse in California, spanning most of the California-Nevada border and including Plumas, Sierra, Nevada, Placer, Alpine, Mono, and Inyo counties, as well as parts of Yuba, El Dorado, and Sacramento counties.
