The Antiquities Act of 1906 is a foundational U.S. law that grants the president unilateral authority to designate national monuments on federal lands to protect significant cultural, historical, and scientific resources.
Signed into law by President Theodore Roosevelt on June 8, 1906, the Act was originally drafted to halt the rampant looting and destruction of Indigenous artifacts and archaeological sites in the American West. Roosevelt immediately used the new law to designate Devils Tower in Wyoming as the very first national monument.

Sierra College Foundation
This week's speaker is Julian Wodz, a student who received support from the foundation, and he will share his story and how the support changed his life. Some of our members got to meet Julian at the Sierra College Foundation Gala in April. We will also have a RYE (Rotary Youth Exchange) student presentation. Our club is strongly focused on supporting our youth, so come learn more and make a difference.

Brewfest Prep
Last week's speaker was our Brewfest Committee. The Brewfest Committee provided an overview of our big event, the FUNdraiser Brewfest, last Saturday, June 6th. It was a great educational opportunity for new members to learn about the event, what is new this year, and for everyone to get an overview of the plan for the day. Our committee chair, Chris Delaney, went over the event, and each committee member provided more details on updates and logistics for their respective areas. It was a do-not-miss meeting.

Brewfest

Another successful Brewfest. Bigger and better than ever.

Our big FUNdraiser for the year, Brewfest, was a major hit this last weekend. A big thank you to our committee members, dedicated club members, and the many volunteers who make this event possible. More updates to come in the next couple of weeks as we pull together the feedback on the event. Want to know more? Don't miss next week's club meeting, where the Brewfest Committee will recap the event.
