This week's speaker is Gary McDonald, Executive Director at Stand Up Placer. He will be sharing about their mission to save lives by empowering survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, and to educate communities to stand up against these issues. They achieve this by providing comprehensive services, such as emergency shelter, housing, counseling, legal support, and community awareness programs, to survivors and their families in Placer County. Gary will be sharing more details about their programs and ways to get involved and support.
District Governor Visit
This week's speaker is Megan Ellinghouse, Rotary District 5180 District Governor. She attended our monthly Club board meeting, which was held just before our weekly club lunch meeting. There was a good discussion at the board meeting about best practices for public relations and club best practices. The topic of public relations continued over into the regular Club Meeting, and the importance of getting the word out about Rotary, the District, and our club. She shared her mission to Expand Rotary, through Educate, Serve, and Inspire. Every club member should represent Rotary and do it proudly, from expanding membership by inviting guests to wearing our club shirts at events, and many other ways to expand our reach through making Rotary more visible to the public
Below we have DG Megan and our Club President Damian.
Below, Mary Lee is recognized for her contributions to leading the way in sharing our Rotary story. She has invited over ten guests.
Hot Chili Cool Cars
Last Saturday, 9/20, was the Hot Chili Cool Cars event. This annual event is a favorite for residents, visitors, classic car enthusiasts, and chili aficionados. Free to attend, it features the area’s coolest cars and fiercest chili cooks, all competing for bragging rights in the Classic Car show and Chili Cook-off. We had our booth out there, and members sharing our Rotray story and building up excitement for our big annual fundraiser, the Rocklin Brewfest. We had Chris, Mary Lee, Rich, Jack, and Aaron operating the booth for the day. The booth was almost always hopping with people playing beer pong and learning about Rotary.
