Volunteer Recognition Day is the annual celebration of those who selflessly benefit the lives of others. By providing a helping hand to those in need, humans and animals alike, we are all naturally working towards making the world a better place.

Every single one of us has been benefited from the work of a volunteer and Volunteer Recognition Day acknowledges the beauty of this phenomenon. Every direction we turn, we can do something outside of our daily list of requirements.  As you go about your day, honor and thank those who go to the extra mile.

Club Service Events
Adopt a Creek Program, is coming up this weekend, Saturday, April 25th, from 8:00 am – 11:00 am (or earlier, depending on how quickly we wrap things up)

We’ll focus our efforts within the Twin Oaks Park boundary, where a little Rotary TLC will go a long way. With Little League in full swing (pun fully intended), the park perimeter and parking areas could use some attention. Much of the trash that ends up in the open space actually starts here and gets blown there, so we’ll be stopping it at the source. See the event calendar for more details.

More information on these and other service projects to come. Keep an eye out for updates in the newsletters and our events calendar on the club site.

Brewfest

Reminder: Club members, please complete your volunteer sign-up. Our big fundraiser is coming soon! It takes a boatload of people to run this event, and we have a spot for you. We are reaching out and calling all volunteers, club members, other clubs, and the community.

Did you know…
We have a silent auction that is put on by Pacific Auction Company. They bring many fantastic items, and we receive a portion of the proceeds. What is even more exciting is that when we donate items through our club, we get most of the proceeds, which is great for raising funds for our many service projects throughout the year. If you have some great items to donate, from gift cards to physical items, that are or, in combination with other donations, add up to a value of $100 or more, reach out to Aaron (me, your editor) to coordinate. For example, we can package four $25 gift cards into a single auction item, even with the cards coming from different companies. So there is no excuse not to donate. And if you can't, but know someone or a business that can, let me know.

What's Happening in Rotary

Last Sunday, we celebrated the birthday of Rotary International's founder, Paul Harris. His birthday is celebrated annually by Rotary clubs worldwide to honor his vision of fellowship and service, which began with the first club in 1905 in Chicago.

Don't forget, we have a few fundraising events in the area this coming weekend. Get out there and support our area clubs.
