In a digital world overflowing with information, misinformation and disinformation, access alone is not enough: people also need timely, reliable information. Timely and credible public information can strengthen trust, support informed decisions and help people participate meaningfully in society.
The 2026 International Day for Universal Access to Information focuses on “Upholding Information Integrity in the Digital Age: The role of access to information in addressing information disorder.” The Day explores how access to reliable official information, proactive disclosure, media and information literacy, credible data and digital technologies can contribute to a healthier information environment.
This week's speaker is Anthony DeMattei, supervisor of Placer County District 3. He will share updates on Placer County District 3 and answer questions.
Placer Justice Foundation
Last week's speakers were Laura Collanton and Lori Miller of the Placer Justice Foundation. The foundation is a coalition of survivors, victims, officials, community members, organizations, business owners, and stakeholders, all working toward a common goal of a brighter Placer County. They shared the foundation's mission to provide support to bridge gaps in victim services, fund outreach and awareness campaigns, and empower our community’s voices to inspire others.

LastSaturday: Adopt A Creak The Adopt-a-Creek project on Saturday, September 26, at the back of Johnson-Springview Park was a great success. It was The Battle of the Beaver Teeth! This month, we were taking on one of nature's most determined engineers: the beaver! We are protecting trees along one of our creek ways by coating the trunks with a mixture of sand and latex paint. The goal is to discourage our furry friends from turning the trees into breakfast, building supplies, or the next phase of their waterfront development project!

Rotary Booth Volunteers
Come out for the popular beer pong game (without the beer) and help promote our club. We'll have a Rotary booth at the event and need volunteers to help with Booth setup (7 AM), staffing, and teardown.
SPCA Event Volunteers Needed
There are also additional volunteer opportunities associated with the event. The SPCA staff is requesting help with loading in vendors and parking attendants for the morning of the 10th. (Check in at 5:30 AM)
