On this day in 1984, a former sardine factory on California’s historic Cannery Row began a remarkable new chapter: The Monterey Bay Aquarium opened its doors, transforming a site once devoted to processing fish into a place dedicated to understanding and protecting marine life.

Rotary Foundation & Legacy Giving

This week's speaker is Karen Cendro, Past District Governor - 2022-23. She will share information with us about The Rotary Foundation and how we can support it locally and globally to make a lasting impact.

Measure C
Last week's speaker was Cherri Spriggs, CEO of Meraki Public Affairs and Executive Director of Placer Business Alliance. She discussed Measure C, which is a proposed half-cent (0.5%) local sales tax on the November 3, 2026, ballot.

Last Week's Event

Last Sunday was the RockPAL Cornhole Tournament. We once again provided the fencing for this annual RockPAL event. That means we get the glamorous job of putting it up—and then taking it down! It was a great way to support RockPAL, help make the event run smoothly, and get a little Rotary muscle-building workout in the process.

Upcoming Events

November Service Opportunities -

Veterans Day Service Project: Wednesday, November 11.
The Placer County Veterans Monument’s Veterans Day event is one of its largest annual community gatherings, and they are seeking volunteers to help prepare the site alongside several other local volunteer organizations.

Volunteer Details

Location: Meet at the Veterans Hall in Lincoln and travel together to McBean Park Monument

Start Time: 8:00 AM

Volunteers Needed: 5 Rotarians

Estimated Completion: 10:30 AM

What Will We Be Doing?
Our volunteers will help get the event ready by:
Setting up approximately 500–700 chairs
Setting up tables and designated event areas
Installing patriotic bunting around the event perimeter
Assisting with American flag and event flag setup
Placing donor recognition signs
Placing sponsorship and event signage
Helping with other general event preparation as needed

This is a great hands-on service project and a meaningful opportunity for Rocklin Rotary to help honor the men and women who have served our country.

Please reach out to Pranil to volunteer or to get additional information about the project.

Aerospace Museum STEAM Student Project: Friday, November 13.
California Aerospace Museum
3200 Freedom Park Dr.
McClellan, CA 95652

This is one of our most inspiring projects of the year, as we host local RUSD middle school STEAM students for a day of learning, exploration, and fun at the Aerospace Museum.

Aerospace Tour Project Timeline
9:30–9:45 AM – Rotary members and student buses arrive
10:00 AM–1:00 PM – Museum tours
1:00 PM–1:30 PM – Lunch and presentation
1:30 PM – Buses depart

In addition to supporting our local STEAM students, this is a great opportunity to:

Spend time with some very bright RUSD students
Interact with knowledgeable museum docents
Explore an incredible aerospace museum
Represent Rocklin Rotary and show students what community service looks like

You’re welcome to join us for the entire project or simply come for lunch and the presentation.  Please let Ken Broadway know if you are able to participate.

Member Socials

Don't have FOMO, be there: We have some great club socials coming up this Rotary year to build community and connection among club members and their partners. These events help build support for our service projects by giving club members an opportunity to get to know each other better and their partners to learn more about the club.

Coming this Saturday.

An Afternoon of Fine Wine, Fellowship, & Fun; Saturday October 24th 11:00 to 3:00 PM

Save the date for upcoming socials:

  • Night of Creativity, Fun & Fellowship, Painting Party; Wedensday, Februrary 11th, 6PM

Keep an eye out for more details on these and other social events. A big thank you to Laura & Steve for coordinating.
