Jill Savery 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist in Synchronized Swimming.
Jill was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL but feels very fortunate to have grown up in Concord, CA (San Francisco East Bay Area). She moved to Reno to be with her boyfriend in 2013.Jill entered the sport and sustainability profession 20 years ago, feeling fortunate to combine her separate passions for these two fields. She has held Sustainability Director roles for 11th Hour Racing and the America's Cup Event Authority, where she focused on embedding sustainability into major event and team operations, as well as engaging with the marine industry and the sport of sailing to promote sustainability and ocean health. Jill led the London 2012 work program of the London-based sustainability charity Bioregional. She served as a Co-opted Expert to the Commission for a Sustainable London 2012 – a first of its kind body that independently assured the sustainability of the London 2012 Olympic Games.Jill taught Corporate Social Responsibility at the University of Nevada, Reno (MBA students) and Seattle University (Masters students), and is the co-editor of Sustainability and Sport (2011), one of the first books in this field. She has held numerous Board/Trustee positions, including: USA Artistic Swimming Foundation, Beyond Sport, Green Sports Alliance, Reno Tahoe Winter Games Coalition, United States Synchronized Swimming, United States Olympic Committee. She is a current Board member for the Sport Ecology Group, World Sailing Sustainability Commission (co-Chair), and the U.S. Olympians and Paralympians Association, Nevada Chapter. Jill earned a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management from Yale University, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Jill is an 8-time World Champion and 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist in synchronized swimming, and was later inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.She enjoys skiing, biking (electric!) and traveling, and has a travel business with her partner Hawley MacLean (MacLean Adventures).
