LMUD GENERAL MANAGER GIVES UTILITY UPDATE

Susanville Sunrise Rotary member Doug Smith, LMUD General Manager, gave a presentation about Lassen Municipal Utility District at the meeting today. He noted that LMUD, formed in 1986, serves mostly residential users at a cost of .05 cents to .07 cents per KWH. About 40% of local cost goes to PGE for service over unreliable lines. He explained that solar users store excess energy with LMUD, but LMUD cannot charge. He identified recently completed projects: Standish line rebuild, and the building of Richmond and Lambert substations. Future projects include a Westwood substation upgrade, Eagle Lake automated metering, and Viewland/NV energy interconnection. Thanks for an excellent and informative presentation, Doug!
