Our Meeting Today Will Be At The Atlantis
Achievement Beyond Obstacles (ABO Nevada) is an innovative scholarship program dedicated to deserving high school seniors who have triumphed over hardships, demonstrated personal leadership and courage, and plan to continue their education.
High school counselors select high school seniors who get to attend:
- A leadership weekend with facilitators Dean and Rochelle Whellams
- A Financial Literacy Workshop from Truckee Meadows Community College
- Mentoring sessions with the Dean’s Future Scholars from UNR and TMCC
- An Effective Communication Workshop
Students who complete the Leadership Weekend are invited to bring two guests to a Rotary luncheon or dinner in their honor, where they share their story and plans. We will hear a three-to-five minute talk about where they have been and where they are going. Each student receives $100.
Judges select 10-12 of these students for an additional interview.
Rotary scholarships for selected students range from $500 to $2,500.
This ABO Luncheon is one of four Rotary events. You won't want to miss hearing from these students, and the impact Rotary is having in their
lives.
