Sept. 23 - David Carter, UNR Basketball

David Carter returns for his fifth season as head coach at the University of Nevada in 2013-14 and 15th season overall with the Wolf Pack. In four seasons he has posted a record of 74-58 and led the Pack to a pair of 20 win seasons. The 74 wins ranks ninth in school history and he is just the second Nevada coach to post two 20 win seasons leading the Wolf Pack. The first was his predecessor Mark Fox who Carter was associate head coach for during Fox's five seasons.
In his first and third years he guided the Pack to postseason play in the National Invitation Tournament. After capturing the 2012 Western Athletic Conference title he was named the Don Haskins Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and received a five-year contract extension that runs through June 2017.
The 2012-13 squad posted a 12-19 overall record and went 3-13 competing in the Mountain West for the first time. Pack junior Deonte Burton was named the All-MW third team and received a roster invitation to compete for spot with Team USA this past summer.
Carter led the Wolf Pack to one of its most successful seasons in 2011-12 as Nevada went 28-7 overall record and won its sixth WAC regular season championship with a 13-1 mark. It was the fourth outright WAC title for Nevada. Nevada advanced to postseason for the ninth time in 10 years and the NIT for the second time in three years under Carter. The Pack posted a couple of NIT firsts reaching the quarterfinals and winning a home game in the tournament, downing Bucknell 75-67.
The 28 wins tied the 1945-46 team for the second most wins in school history. The Pack put together a 16-game win streak that tied the school record set by the 1965-66 squad that went 21-6.
