Bill Hauck, Water Supply Supervisor for Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA), will present the latest data on upstream drought reserves, projections for Truckee River flows and how all that relates to our community’s water supply. Hauck, hydrologist, has a master’s degree in water resources and has more than 20 years of experience coordinating the water supply for Washoe County and the Cities of Reno and Sparks. Charged with making the most efficient use of the community’s water resources, he forecasts customer demand, projects available water supplies, and develops and implements cost-effective source of supply operating strategies.

 

Hauck’s work is part of TMWA’s overall integrated water resources management plan to meet the demands of its water customers.  He is responsible for coordinating the groundwater pumping efforts of TMWA’s 92 production wells. He also directs the storage and releases from upstream dams and reservoirs in accordance with the Truckee River Operating Agreement to create effective flow regimes which keep TMWA’s surface water treatment plants and hydroelectric plants online.

 

TMWA is a not-for-profit, community-owned water utility overseen by elected officials and citizen appointees from Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County. TMWA serves more than 440,000 residents throughout the Reno and Sparks area.
