President Mike receives a $2,000 check from the District 5190 matching grant fund from current Assistant District Governor and club past president, Gary MacDonald for the Adopt-A-Veteran Dental Program (AAVD).
Our club requested $2,000 matching funds from Rotary District 5190 which will provide up to $72,000 in delivered dental services to qualified veterans. The majority of the dental services are donated and the remainder is paid at significantly reduced rates negotiated by AAVD using private donations and grants. For every $1 raised by AAVD, is matched by $17.90 in donated services. Total cash funding for the project is $4,000.
The funding will provide for free dental care to low-income military veterans who do not qualify for dental care at the Reno VA and cannot afford to pay for their own dental treatment. In addition, two club members who are dentists, Merrill Mensor and Jim Garol, will provide, pro bono, assessment and dental work along with monitoring the progress of the project.
