A MEMORIAL DAY REMEMBRANCE TO THOSE SERVICE MEMBERS FROM SMITH VALLEY

A remembrance and celebration was held on Memorial Day at the Smith Valley Hill Crest cemetery for those who have served in our nations armed services.  Our little valley has many service members interred there, representing all of our branches of the armed services.  A United States flag was placed at each burial site totaling 144 in all.

A moving ceremony placing a wreath, our Countries flag being brought to the height of the flag pole and then back to half staff, and the playing of taps, honored the memory of those brave men and women who gave their lives in the service of our country, as well as the many, many, family members left to grieve their loss.

We would like to give our special thanks to the Smith Valley Rotary Club and community volunteers that came out to clean up the entire cemetery as well as placing the flags and flowers on the burial sites.  We should all be proud of how much care is shown when one walks the cemetery today.
