Those that tried failed...badly
Jacob Hefter was a young man that had great ambitions along with a deep passion and respect for life. Jacob believed in sharing his love of life with others and helping them to make positive choices.
On September 12, 2008, someone made the selfish decision to text while driving a train. Jacob’s life was taken by that choice, a choice which resulted in the deadly Metrolink train crash. In Jacob’s memory a foundation has been started, The Jacob Hefter Foundation.
Alan and Angela Hefter shared their story story of loss and purpose. Their son was riding on the Metro Link train headed back to college when someone with the responsibility for the safety of hundreds of innocent commuters when decided that texting was more important. Within a minute many lives were lost or damaged forever. The loss of a child under any circumstance can not be properly imagined.
The Hester's have committed their life's purpose to give others the understanding of responsibility we all have to ensure that texting while driving never leads to loss and pain that all feel when it's too late to change a decision to quit driving and text.
Thank you to them both from the Students and Rotary members of Smith Valley Nevda!
