ROTARY CLUB OF SMITH VALLEY FUN DAYS EVENT CANCELLATION
Dear Rotary Supporters,
It is with great regret that I am announcing the cancelation of our Fun Day’s events scheduled for October 3rd and 4th. This is a COVID 19 related issue.
Many months of planning to make this a safe event working with our Club Members and the board of health was nullified by circumstances beyond our control and after much discussion within our membership we came to the difficult conclusion that attempting to carry this forward was not a realistic option.
As with all charitable organizations, our events enable our programs to go forward. Though this is the 3rd major fund raiser to be canceled this year we will continue to move forward to support the people, and especially the youth of Smith Valley but we will need your help.
Currently our events, along with the community and our membership’s generosity support:
- Rotary Eighth Grade Leadership Program
- Rotary Youth Leadership Program
- Children’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt
- Annual First Grade Christmas Party
- Scholarships for graduating seniors
- Third Grade Dictionary Project
- Grant Programs such as
- Yerington Food Pantry
- Community Hall Handicap Ramp
- Historical Society Support
- Dressler Park Projects
Our club is doing its best to come up with new and inventive events and projects to help fill in the void left by our fund raisers, but we are also asking for any support that the community would be able to offer.
