We started the month of March out with a bang on the 5th with the Speech and Music contest. This competition had 6 contestants, with three each in the speech contest, and the music contest. This is one of the highlights of our year and Klytia Dutton did a great job of getting this organized.
It was a packed house for our March 5th meeting for the Speech and Music Contest.
The Speech winner was Sophia Dutton, and the Music winner was Jordan Herbert. Both of these kids went on to the Area contest on March 30th in Quincy.

On March 16th we made up or "Rotary Learning Event" that was cancelled due to bad weather in February. The RLI 1 session was a great success with 10 participants from Susanville, Greenville, Quincy and Portola. We also had instructors from Reno and Truckee who volunteered to conduct the session. Evaluations were excellent across the board, so don't miss your chance to attend one of these great sessions next time it comes to town.

On the 19th of March for our Lunch meeting, Renee Herman shared her life with us. It was fascinating to gain a whole new perspective on one of our newer members. Thanks Renee!! During the eeting President Kristen also awarded Joleen Cline her blue badge. Great job Joleen!
In addition, Matt And Elizabeth Cruse returned from their International Service trip with "Smiles without Borders". They brought back a new Rotary Club banner from the R/C of San Felipe Mexico to add to our collection. Hopefully they will share more of their experiences with us in a future program.

On March 30th, the Area semifinal Speech and Music Contest was held in Quincy. Our two contestants did extremely well. Sophia Dutton WON the Speech competition, and Jordan Herbert placed third in the Music contest. This was our March Social, and members gathered at Gumba's for lunch afterwards. Sophia will be competing at our District Conference ("The Four Way Fest")on May 18th at the Peppermill Casino in Reno. Register now on the district web-page.
