TRAC Progam Seeks Rotary and Community Support
The Rotary Club of Portola supports the Trails for Recreation and Community (TRAC) program and the work they are doing in conjunction with the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship (SBTS). Check out their master plan and letter of support template at http://www.chamberorganizer.com/easternplumaschamber/mem_TRAC.
Comprised of local business owners and individuals, the Rotary Club of Portola supports the TRAC program. Many of our members are trail users and outdoor recreationalists. The Club realizes that recreation is the only way to improve Portola's economic situation. The trail system proposed will bring tourist dollars to a town that has seen businesses closing and residents having to leave the area. The Lake Davis Trail will bring out of town guests to the newly renovated campgrounds. The signature project, The Mohawk Rim Trail will bring riders, hikers and other users from out of the area to experience Eastern Plumas County and the beautiful landscape it has to offer.
TRAC and SBTS have done their homework, they have received feedback from various trail user groups through surveys and several community meetings. They have taken this information and created their Trails Master Plan. Contact Tim Rhode for more information:
