Representatives of the Rotary Club of Portola, the City of Portola and the Portola Area Historical Society planned a formal rededication program.

Members of the community and family members of Dr. James Coulter were joined together on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. for the special ceremony.  The original swimming pool opened in July of 1955 and was dedicated to the memory of Dr. James D. Coulter. The Rotary Club of Portola began planning the facility, with Couter as the driving force, in the 1940's. After passing away in 1951, Coulter was unable to see the completion of the pool. His son, Jim, represented the Coulter family and received a temporary wooden plaque.

A bronze plaque, mounted on a piece of granite was unveiled while all enjoyed the history of the pool shared by Mr. Ray Donnenwirth.  Cake and champagne were served by the Rotary Club of Portola.
