Well, June concludes President Kristen's marathon double header as our club president. All of us owe her a debt of gratitude for her dedication and willingness to help lead this club through two consecutive years. As of this writing, her demotion is scheduled for tomorrow, June 26th at Kenny's Ranch. Team Clifton has done an incredible job in setting up an enjoyable and memorable event. Please get out there and eat, drink and be merry! But most importantly, give Kristen the CONGRATULATIONS she deserves, and welcome our new President, Matt, into the hot seat!
Speaking of incoming President Matt, he and Elizabeth held an all hands on board "Board Retreat" at their house. The Board enjoyed some pool, ping pong, cards, foosball, and fellowship. Also, of course, in the Rotary tradition they all had a great meal. Most importantly they sat down for their first Board meeting for the upcoming Rotary year. As our new DG Randy Van Tassell says: "Our Best Year Ever"!
It was a very productive retreat and it looks like there were some good ideas for improving club communication and member satisfaction. President Matt will hold a Club Assembly to discuss some of this on the 16th of July at our noon meeting. Make a special effort to be there to have your voice heard as we continue to make the Rotary Club of Portola better and better for our members, our community and the world!
Earlier this month Kim and Sam Wilbanks had the privilege of attending the Rotary International Convention in Hamburg (see cover photo). They both report that it was an exceptional experience and would love to volunteer for a program as soon as an opening is available. So if your team is looking for an interesting and informative presentation on their experience, please give them a call.
