Moline Rotary has been involved with the John Deere Classic PGA golf tournament since its beginning days at Crow Valley, the Hardees Golf Classic and then the Quad City Classic, which were held at Oakwood Country Club. Upon the emergence of Deere & Company as the major sponsor and the move to the TPC Deere Run course in 1999, Moline Rotary has been responsible for staffing the marshals on the 18th hole at the TPC course. The John Deere Classic is a major sporting event that brings national attention each year to the Quad Cities area, as well as millions of dollars in revenues to local businesses and charities. The tournament offers Quad Citians the opportunity to view world-renowned golfers each summer for a full week of outstanding golf competition, as well as instructional clinics and fun-filled social events. Several thousand volunteers are needed each year to make the entire event a success, and groups like Moline Rotary are recognized and appreciated for the outstanding service they provide to the community during this event.

Marshals are responsible for providing assistance to participants and spectators such as indicating and marking ball locations, answering questions, maintaining crowd control and noise levels, and personally escorting golfers around the course. They can be found on every hole on the course and represent the largest group of volunteers for the tournament. Moline Rotary is proud to have been given the responsibility of staffing marshals on the 18th hole every year since the tournament has been held at TPC Deere Run. The 18th hole requires the largest number of marshals, and tournament officials have continually recognized and counted on the excellent service that Moline Rotary provides.
