Gary Francque reported on the latest RYE news:
MHS Swim Team Fundraiser - Exchange Student Joao Miguel raised $599.00 for the MHS Swim Team fundraiser. Sim team members solicited donations to fund equipment, fee, and team travel expenses. Thanks to Moline Rotarians Scott Lohman, Mark Carlson, Deni McCarter, Gary Francque, Bill Jorgensen, Randy Jacobs, Melinda Urban, Laura Davis, and an anonymous Rotarian for supporting Joao and his teammates!
Joao Potter and his magical mop made quick work of molding the floor during the service project.
Exchange Students Service Project - During winter break Joao Miguel joined other District 6420 Inbound Students and Interact Club members for a Rotary service project at Silver Birch Christian Ranch, in White Lake Wisconsin. Students supported the Winter Family Camp by helping to serve meals, wash dishes and clean up. Joao was dubbed "Joao Potter" after it was discovered that he possessed amazing magical powers, similar to students at Hogwarts School of Wizardry (Harry Potter series) enabling him to swish through the ranch cafeteria on his magical mop.
Exchange Student Joao will be our speaker on January 15th with his presentation on his home country of Brazil.
