Worlds Largest Polio Walk: President Nicole Zook reported on the success of the 2026 World's Largest Polio Walk event sponsored by Rotary Districts 6420 (northwest Illinois) and District 6000 (east central Iowa).
Over 150 participants assembled at The Vibrant Arena, Moline on Saturday October 24th to celebrate Rotary's ongoing fight against Polio. The event included a welcome program recognizing survivors of Polio, and then a walk east along the Mississippi River and across the I-74 Iowa - Illinois Memorial Bridge. and back. Participants included Rotarians and family members from several clubs, BHC Rotaract Cub members, Riverdale High School Interact Club, and Jordan School Earlyact Club (middle school students). Participants who contributed to Polio Plus on site were recognized by having their "pinky" finger painted purple, just as children immunized against Polio worldwide are marked as having been vaccinated. After the event members of BHC Rotaract Club and Jordon School Earlyact Club were treated to pizza at Tony's Chicago Pizza restaurant in downtown Moline by Rotarians Nicole Zook and Gary Francque. Congratulations to all who participated in this worthy event!
