Throughout his twenty years anchoring the 5, 6 & 10PM News on KWQC-TV6, Gary Metivier, won multiple Emmys and Edward R. Murrow Awards for his inspirational storytelling. He joins us Monday to talk about why left news, what he has been doing since and details of his new book “My Mask. My War.: A WWII Memoir.”
Last week's speaker was MHS Boys Basketball Head Coach, Sean Taylor. He spoke about the 2023-24 varsity team's strengths and accomplishments. He also gave us an update on some of the 2022-23 State Champion team members, now playing at college level.

Exchange Student Update:
Galena Rotary Club hosted our District 6420 Inbound Exchange Students for a weekend skiing event at Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort. Four students enjoyed a day of downhill skiing despite the frigid cold and wind chills. The students included our own Joao Miguel from Brazil, Elise Verkaeren from Belgium, Sophie Thomsen from Denmark, and Connor Francque from MHS. The European students were skilled skiers, but Joao & Connor had not skied before and after a beginners lesson, did very well on the slopes. After skiing students tour downtown Galena shops and were then treated to pizza and a tour at United Methodist Church, the Civil War era home church of General Ulysses Grant. Joao reported on his adventure and declared that snow skiing is his latest favorite!
Student Rotarians:
MHS Principal Chris Moore introduced an impressive new group of MHS Student Rotarians.
