Last week we welcomed Tommy Potter to introduce his new app and business, Step Up QC -- an interactive app meant to encourage volunteerism. Tommy is a former Moline High School student. In January he enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin HS where he has daily flexibility to pursue passions and scale enterprises. He is also a prospective Moline Rotarian! What is Step Up QC?
Step Up QC is an user-friendly, navigable platform that aggregates volunteer opportunities. It will attract volunteers to their website, provide information, and connect volunteers to organizations in need. So far, Step Up QC has partnered with 12 organizations and foundations throughout the Quad Cities and has acquired a corporate sponsorship. Why Is This Needed?
The idea is to bridge the age gap in the volunteer process. To encourage citizenship, community involvement and active participation in today's youth. And to encourage more corporations to offer paid volunteer days. Who Are We Impacting
Our goal is to inspire students and young adults by building the next generation of volunteers and ambassadorships with enhanced skillsets. Students can use it as a resume builder, and use the social media aspect to spread the word. Tommy is an ambitious young entrepreneur. We wish him all the best!! |
