Monday we will hear from Bryan Miller from the Quad Cities Veterans Network. Bryan is the Deputy Program Manager at SERCO N.A., U.S Army Veteran, and is the founder of the Quad Cities Veteran's Network.
The QCVN delivers a networking event series that meets monthly to connect transitioning service members, veterans, and their spouses to employers, mentors, and other resource providers in the Quad Cities area. The QC Veterans Network is so successful that other communities including Muscatine, Clinton, Ames, and Dubuque are starting their own programs.
2024-25 President Sam Moyer opened meeting and recognized Past President Mark Carlson. President Moyer presented PP Carlson with his President gavel. Sam gave brief remarks about the coming year, but will talk more about his plans at another meeting.
Vice President Eric VanWinkle spoke about plans to find and schedule speakers in the coming year, encouraging Rotarians to suggest speakers and/or topics. Eric reviewed the new policy regarding the consdieration and selection of Rotary presenters. Download the Speaker Guidelines here.

Welcome Back, Helenka!
Mike Drymiller and his wife, Mary, helped welcome back Helenka, our 2018 incoming exchange student.
2017-18 Inbound Exchange Student Halenka Pelichero presented a report on her life since she returned home from her Rotary Exchange in 2018. She attended college in Brussels where she earned a degree in fashion design. She hopes to open her own fashion design shop but in the meantime has accepted a good job with an electrical power supplier in the Charleroi area. She and her sister Lorena are vacationing in the U.S. having visited Chicago, then Oak Run Lake with her former host family Trevor and Jodi Fisk, then Mike and Mary Drymiller, and next New York City. Both of Halenka's host families visited her and her familhy this past summer in Belgium. Rotary Youth Exchange connects the world!
Youth Exchange: Joao
Joao Miguel presented a humor filled report on his recent trip to Charlotte, North Carolina where he visited his Exchange brother Soren Gautum from Charlotte, who stayed with Joao's family on Exchange during the 2022-23 exchange year.
Joao Miguel's last Rotary meeting will be July 15th. We will recognize Joao for his exchange year and he will thank Moline Rotary Club for a fabulous exchange year. Joao will present the club with a banner from his home club and we will present him with a Moline Rotary Club banner to take back home.
There will be a farewell open house party for Joao Monday July 15th 4-7pm at his host home, Gary Francque, 733 26th Avenue, Moline. Stop by an wish him well!
2024 John Deere Classic
18th Hole Captain Denny McCarter reported that the 2024 JDC was a huge success with an outstanding tournament and great concerts as well. On Moline Rotary's 18th Hole 93 volunteers worked 1195 hours staffing 15+ positions with as many as 25 volunteers on duty at once. 35 Rotarians volunteered. Thanks to Captain Deni McCarter and all the volunteers that worked so hard!
