Brazilian Inbounds were thrilled by a surprise appearance of Youth Exchange chairpersons from their home sponsor clubs in Brazil, including Joao's YE Chairperson Delma Dias of D4621.

 

 

Finally Joao, a talented musician, performed "The Girl from Ipanema" in the conference finale, the Student Variety Show. Joao was dubbed "Jojo Rock Star" by fellow exchange students!

 

 

Joao presented his final address to the club, describing his exchange year as the best year of his life and expressing his sincere gratitude to the club, Gary Francque and Melinda Urban for the support and encouragement.

 

Gary Francque bid a fond farewell to João saying that Joao was born and raised in a Rotary family in Brazil and has represented Rotary at the highest standards. He is the quintessential Rotary International Exchange Student and Moline Rotary Club has loved him dearly! On a personal note Gary expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with Joao and serve as his host parent.

 

 

Following Rotary tradition Joao presented Moline Rotary Club President Sam Moyer with the banners of his home sponsor club and his Rotary District Governor and he received Moline Rotary Club banners to present to his club president back in Brazil. Gary Francque and club President Sam Moyer presented Joao Miguel with his Rotary District 6420 Certificate of Completion of his Rotary International Youth Exchange, and with a commemorative plaque recognizing his participation in RYE.  

 

So, another Rotary Exchange is completed. We will dearly miss this awesome young man!
