Located along the Mississippi, in the middle of one of the most industrial areas of the Quad Cities, is one of the true pearls of the Quad City area: Nahant Marsh. A 305 acre wetland
Brian told us of the history:
The land was once a gun club.
So much lead shot into the water that the flora and fauna began suffering intense lead poisoning
EPA SuperFund Site clean up resulted in over 243 TONS of lead shot removed from the site. Also present were highly concentrated, toxic levels of Arsenic and Antimony.
After cleanup, the decision was made to make it a conservation area
Mission: The mission of Nahant Marsh Education Center is to protect, enhance, and restore the Marsh through education, research, and conservation.
Vision: Our vision is to foster wonder, appreciation, and stewardship of the natural world.
Hiking, birdwatching, nature photography, and much more is available at Nahant, along with a year-round series of educational classes for children and adults.

We bid a fond farewell to our last Student Rotarian group of 2022. We wish them good luck in their upcoming semester and beyond!
Gary Francque drew the nine of clubs and walked away with a check for half a zillion dollars!! You can't win if you don't play! Gary played and hit the jackpot (see, there WAS a nine of clubs in the deck after all!).
