Last week we heard from our very own Moline Rotarian, Dougal Nelson. Dougal is the President and CEO of Junior Achievement of the Heartland. 
Recently a major development has begun with the relocation of JA Biztown and JA Finance Park. Previously held in downtown Davenport, Vibrant Credit Union's new corporate headquarters in the old Sam's Club in Moline will be the new location for these exciting programs. The Vibrant location will allow both programs to run simultaneously -- enabling JA of the Heartland to serve even more students in our area. JA BizTown combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. This popular learning experience allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. JA Finance Park is Junior Achievement’s capstone program for personal financial planning and career exploration. At the culmination of this teacher-led program, students visit JA Finance Park, a realistic on-site or virtual community, to put into practice what they've learned by developing and committing to a personal budget.
