Last week's speakers were George Ryan, Engineer, I-74 Corridor Manager, WSP Engineering and Tom Schebler, Project Engineer, Helm Civil Engineering Here are some visual highlights of last week's presentation. It is amazing how quickly they are working considering the daunting task, including environmental protection, winter weather, and materials removal challenges on an ancient suspension bridge!! 
The riverbed was scanned and mapped for all underwater details, which will be used to make sure the riverbed is put back the way it was found! 
When the concrete was removed from the first span, the bridge deck had risen four feet! 
This was a very well done presentation with lots of inside information about the process and progress. If all goes according to plan, the last of the bridge will be gone before summer's end. And, no, there will be no dynamite used -- except maybe for the large piers holding up the towers. Thank you, George and Tom for taking the time to give us a fantastic presentation! |
