Last Week's Speaker

Last week's speaker was Laura Kann, past Rotary District 6420 Governor, and now District Foundation chair. She reviewed the Rotary International Foundation funds makeup and the benefits the foundation brings to those in need.

Laura spent the first part of her presentation talking about her volunteer Rotary work in India -- vaccinating the children for Polio in the slums. Laura and her team would spend all day on the roadside of a busy highway, stopping any vehicle -- cars, trucks, carts, wagons, buses, bicycles that had children aboard -- looking for any child that did not have their finger marked showing that they had been vaccinated. She and her Rotary team would also go door-to-door, checking homes, looking for children, vaccinating them with a single drop of serum, and then going on to the next.

She also talked about our Rotary Foundation, and the good that it is doing in our country and in the world.

Thank you, Laura, for all your good work...
