Lareau Family — l-r: Hector, Lucy, Marina, and Liz Lareau We had several presenters come to the podium last week, but the star of the show was 2023-24 Outbound Exchange Student Lucy Lareau. Along with her parents Hector & Liz Lareau, and her sister, 1st Lt. Marina Lareau, US Army, a 2015 Student Rotarian from MHS, Lucy gave a personality-filled presentation on her journey to this point, and a look into what she anticipates going forward in the great adventure that is Outbound Rotary Student Exchange. Lucy's sister, 1st Lt. Marina Lareau, updated the club on her career since her 2015 Student Rotarian appearance. She graduated from Iowa ROTC and is now 1st Lieutenant U.S. Army. Lucy is really looking forward to serving her exchange in Ilha Solteira, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Her host club is the Rotary Club of Ilha Solteira in Rotary District 4480. You could tell by her energy that she is really looking forward to the experience! This year there will be over 8000 Student Exchanges in 60 countries. Rotary Clubs HOST an inbound student and SPONSOR an outbound student. Our club attempts each year to sponsor One Short Term (Summer) Student and One Long Term (School Year) Student every year. Gary Francque, once again, has gone above and beyond in his work with our Rotary Youth. Lucy, and also her father, Hector, spoke very highly of Gary. Thank you, Gary, for all you do to make our Youth Exchange program a great success!! |
During each month, Rotarians can earn tickets that go into a jar. One ticket for every time you participate in a club service project, two tickets for each guest, five tickets if you sponsor a new member. During the last meeting of the month, we pull a name and give the card.
