Youth Exchange update 8-22-12
Moline Rotary's 2011-2012 outbound YE student Gabriel Armetta arrived back home from Germany on July 18. Gabby had the best time of her life and is eager to report on her experience to the Club.
2011-12 Inbound student Greta Safoncikova departed for her home country of Slovakia on July 23rd. A large group of fellow High School students and YE students, host families and Rotarians attended the tearful sendof at Quad City International Airport. Greta arrived home safely and within a couple of days headed off to London to visit her sister during the 2012 Olympics. Our best wishes to Greta.
Our new 2012-2013 Inbound student arrived August 9th. Wachiraya Marthong, (nickname "Oil") age 16, arrived from Thailand and will stay with host family Mark & Theresa Armetta. Her host sister, Gabriel Armetta, was our 2011-12 outbound student to Germany. Oil will begin attending Club meetings soon.
Our new 2012-2013 Outbound Student, Jesse Golden of Moline will depart for her YE year in Japan on August 22nd. Jesse is very excited and very well prepared to serve as our ambassador to Japan.
Past 2010-11 Inbound student Ricardo Moscoso, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will attend college at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky, USA, where he has received a swimming scholarship. Ricardo arrived back in the US on August 15th and his former host parents Kris Young & Craig Lennon, met Ricardo at UofC to welcome him. The Lennons had just dropped off their son Ben Lennon , our 2010-11 Outbound to Germany, at the University of Florida for his sophomore year; and their son Nick Lennon, Ricardo's host brother, at the Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida.
The Moline Rotary Club is fortunate to have had the opportunity to host and sponsor such outstanding young people and to be blessed with such dedicated host families!
