It is with a heavy heart we report that Herb Thompson, a Rotarian since 1980, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, at the age of 91. Not only did Herb had a successful career as a realtor in the Quad Cities for 40 years, he will be equally remembered for his basketball career at the University of Iowa, and as Moline High School’s basketball coach. He was named to both the Iowa High School Basketball Players Hall of Fame and the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of fame. Herb is survived by his four children – Scott (Rebecca) Thompson, Mark (Gail) Thompson, Laura Hamilton and Suzanne (Ron) Straus, as well as nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
