Past Youth Exchange Update
While spending the weekend with Craig and Kris (Young) Lennon, Moline Rotary Club Youth Exchange Committee members were brought up to date on the lives of three outstanding former Moline Youth Exchange students. Recall that the Lennons hosted our 2010-11 inbound student from Brazil, Ricardo Moscoso, while their son Ben Lennon served as Moline Rotary’s outbound exchange student to Germany, and Ben’s twin brother Nick Lennon served as the host brother for Ricardo during his stay with us.
Ben Lennon is a sophomore at the University of Miami and is enjoying the challenge of the school’s Program for Research in Science and Math (PRISM) and he continues his studies and participates in competitive rock climbing.
Twin brother Nick Lennon is a sophomore at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida where he continues his studies in art and cinematography. Nick is also doing very well and was recently thrilled to personally meet famous cinematographer Wally Pfister, who has worked on such movies as Batman, Inception, and Moneyball. Nick, an extraordinarily talented artist himself, created a poster commemorating his visit and Mr. Pfister was so impressed that he asked Nick for his autograph!
Ricardo Moscoso has returned to the United States to attend college at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky, where he is studying business and is swimming for U of C. He is reported to be doing very well academically and athletically, having recently qualified for national swimming competition in the 200 m relays. Ricardo is enjoying his college life in the USA and was recently selected to serve on his school’s Homecoming Court! Ricardo is looking forward to visiting Moline Rotary Club sometime soon, but during the Thanksgiving holidays he will be traveling with the Lennons to spend the holidays with Ben and Nick in Florida.
Kudos to Ben and Nick Lennon and Ricardo Moscoso on their outstanding achievements and continuing success! They are great examples of outstanding young students and Rotarians from our community.
