Rotarian Gary Francque introduced the family of former MoRo exchange student Joao Miguel (2023-24), parents Alexandre and Daiane and brothers Joao and Davi, who are visiting Moline from Brazil, after visiting a year ago when Joao returned to Moline to attend Black Hawk College.
The Miguel family visited Moline after a two week tour of U.S. states including North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana. The Miguels first met up with Soren Gautam, an American Rotary Exchange Student from Charlotte, NC who the Miguel family hosted in Brazil in 2022-23. Soren joined the Miguel family to visit tourist attractions including Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Louisville, Kentucky, the Jack Daniels Whiskey Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, Nashville, and Indianapolis.
The Miguel family is the quintessential Rotary family, having been active Rotarians since the Miguel boys were little. Alexandre is Past President, and current Treasurer of the Sorocaba Manchester Rotary Club in Brazil, and also serves as the club Youth Exchange Officer. The family has been involved in most all of the activities of the club, and they have hosted 5 exchange students in their home. Jose Carlos Miguel, Alexandre's father is a Rotary Past District Governor in Rotary District 4621. It was wonderful hosting the Miguel family again at Moline Rotary!
