Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Weekend (RYLA) is Rotary’s annual leadership development event for high school students. The program engages our students in activities and lessons that will help them develop skills in teamwork, introspection, group communication, decision-making, and other valuable social skills needed to live productive lives.

RYLA 2014 was again held at Northern Illinois University’s Taft Field Campus at Lowden State Park in Oregon, Illinois May 2nd, 3rd & 4th. RYLA hosted about 110 Students from several Rotary Clubs, and was staffed by about ten Rotarian Volunteers, four Student Counselors, four Professional Leadership Speakers, and six NIU Taft Campus Field Educators

Moline Rotary Club sent seven Moline High School students, all MHS Interact Club members. The students were kept very busy with interactive classroom sessions and rigorous physical challenges. They worked hard and played hard and had a blast, raving about the experience to fellow students. Interact Club President, MHS Senior Gabrielle Pinc explained to other students at a recent school event that RYLA was the best weekend of her senior year!
