Antonio Graduates From High School!

Friday May 23, 2014 was a benchmark in the adventure of Moline Rotary Club’s Brazilian Youth Exchange Student Antonio Leite – graduation from an American high school! Antonio proudly joined nearly 500 classmates for Moline High School Commencement at Wharton Field House. One of the first few students to enter under the traditional giant maroon “M”, Antonio was smiling from ear to ear. His front row seat assignment gave Antonio a great vantage point to listen to commencement speakers, including honor students and Student Rotarians Josef Pautsch and Travis Meier, Principal Dan McGuire, Superintendent Dr. Dave Moyer, and others.

When Assistant Principal Lisa Martinez called out “Antonio Vito Abreu Leite” he proudly processed up to receive his diploma! After a few photo ops with fellow classmates, Antonio was taken out for a late dinner at Huckleberry’s with Gretta and Steve Knight and Gary Francque.

Antonio then joined fellow graduates for MHS Project Graduation, the fantastic all night celebration party held at Two Rivers YMCA. Students enjoyed hours of games and activities, including Casino games, physical challenges such as Elas-Ta-Run, Boxing combat, pugil sticks combat, obstacle course challenge, and basketball. After a huge pizza and snack party students participated in a vigorous dance contest and then enjoyed a fantastic show by a hypnotist who engaged students to perform all sorts of hilarious antics. The celebration was capped off with the presentation of very nice gifts to every student, all donated by local businesses and citizens. Around 4:00AM hundreds of tired students then headed home, having safely celebrated this life benchmark!
