2014 Youth Exchange Ski Weekend
Youth Exchange Student Antonio Leite had a blast at Ski Weekend at Chestnut Mountain.
Galena, IL – Inbound Youth Exchange Students from within Rotary District 6420 participated in 2014 Youth Exchange Ski Weekend January 18th & 19th at Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort in Galena. District Youth Exchange events provide opportunities for our visiting students to experience American culture, have fun, and interact with one another.
Our inbound student, Antonio Leite and Rock Island Rotary’s Leander Selter, joined ten other Exchange Students for a weekend of fun and camaraderie. Students arrived at Chestnut Mountain Saturday morning and skied and snowboarded on the great snow base at Chestnut. Students then toured Galena shops and then settled in at the home of Galena Rotarians for a food feast, billiards, hot tubbing, and swimming in a warm indoor swimming pool. Students returned to their host homes on Sunday. Thanks to Galena Rotary Club and other District 6420 Rotarians for hosting this event, and thanks to Moline Rotarians Gretta Knight and Melinda Urban for transporting the students.
