Rotary is committed to supporting the development of responsible, successful youth, and RYLA Weekend is designed for high school students who have an interest in developing their leadership skills to the fullest. The program intensely engages students, immersing them in lessons and training that develops teamwork, group communication, introspection, decision making, and many other valuable social skills, all in an environment of great fun and camaraderie. 2011's RYLA 6420 Weekend was attended by 110 students from around the district and included most of our inbound and outbound Youth Exchange students as well as many other high school students.

The extraordinary facilities at the Taft Campus are located in a majestic woodland area overlooking the Rock River Valley. All of the students, including Moline Rotary Club's outbound student Ricardo Moscoso and pending outbound student Diego Gomez had an outstanding experience and benefited greatly from this event. Moline Rotary Youth Exchange Committee member Gary Francque served as a RYLA adult staff member during the event and found it deeply rewarding also.
