Happy spring to the Okanagan! The last month/month and a half has been really busy here. I changed to my last family this past march and have been really happy so far. The whole family is really nice and they try hard to include me in everything they do. School ended just before I switched families so as soon as I got there we started taking some trips around the area. We went to a private resort on an island in the middle of nowhere. It was the kind of place where we met senators and wealthy foreign vacationers. A couple days later we went to the most southern tip of Luzon island to see whalesharks. Whalesharks are the worlds biggest fish and can grow to be up to 13 meters long. To find them everyone goes out on the ocean in a boat manned with a captain, diver and whaleshark spotter. They drive around untill the spotter sees one and then quickly the tourists jump in and swim alongside the whaleshark for about 2 minutes. It's impossible to describe how big the whaleshark is when you're right beside it. The first time is scary as all hell when a giant head just suddely pops up infront of you. Swimming alongside a whaleshark is like swimming with a car beside you. This april 6th-12th I was on the resort island of Boracay for our district conference. Boracay is in the Visayas region of the country which is a lot of small islands in the middle of the country. The area is famous for tourists and i found out why. The sand is white and powdery like flour and the water is blue and crystal clear for as far as you can see. During the day families are walking up and down the beach and the boardwalk while eating or buying souvenirs. At night the young people- especially those students from manila- begin to come out and the whole beach is filled with music for about 6 km of beachfront. It's stranger to be in silence than to hear dance music at night. People from all over the world come to Boracay. I even managed to meet a few Canadians! Summer time is here in the Philippines and holy its hot. Yesterday was 35 and today 37. Our summer trip here is getting planned right now but we still dont know anything for sure yet. Its getting really surreal to think that I only have 2 months left here. This is home now and I'm not sure how I'm going to leave. I'm so adjusted here now that things in Canada seem strange. Sacha
