Rotary Meeting January 20

Our meeting started with an update from Sara in regards to a new fundraiser she is doing for her Grad selling raffle tickets. One of her goals for 2011 is to get John out snowboarding. Sounds like fun! Avery also gave us the update that he was accepted as our 2011 outgoing exchange student destined for Thailand. Already Avery is making progress with his confidence levels speaking to our group and seems extremely excited an appreciative to be a part of the exchange program. Ryan also shared with us a video from PETS featuring Rick King who is quite the comedian. Rick's overall message was that in todays world being "uncommon" is being "extraordinary". He explained how those that go above and beyond as leaders are uncommon. When we are sick we want an uncommon doctor. When we are in trouble we want an uncommon lawyer. Ultimately being uncommon is something we all strive for as Rotarians in stepping up and making a difference. Our meeting turned sentimental in a hurry and we all shared some positive vibes. You just had to be there:)
