Chiara Kohlhofer, the Rotary Club of Kelowna Sunrise’s In-coming 2017-18 Rotary Youth Exchange Student from Austria arrived in Kelowna during the evening on Tuesday, August 29th.  She was welcomed at the airport by Stuart Lang, Bill and Joanne Reynolds, Jery Urquhart, Linda Frandsen, Sue and John McIntyre, Maribeth and Gord Friesen, Martha Kennedy, and Colleen and Chuck McEwan, along with their family Kenna McEwan (2016-17 RYE out-bound student to Austria), and son Cole.

Chiara’s home is in Ried im Innkreis in the province of Oberosterreich in Austria, a small city of just over 11,600 habitants.  The Rotary Club of Ried im Innkreis in District 1920, a club with 62 members, is her sponsor Rotary club.

Chiara will be hosted by three families while in Kelowna.  She will certainly enjoy the support and care of Gord and Maribeth Friesen, followed by Colleen and Chuck McEwan and finally Sue and John McIntyre throughout the Rotary year of 2017-18.  Linda Frandsen and Joanne Reynolds will serve as Chiara’s counsellors.

The club members were introduced to Chiara when she attended her first meeting with the Rotary Club of Kelowna Sunrise on September 08th.  Following her introduction, Chiara expressed her appreciation to the club, for accepting her into their Rotary Family, and to those who came to the airport and for the great reception she received at the time.
