In early 2007 it was announced that The Central Albury Occasional Child Care Centre would need to relocate, to a greenfield site in South Albury, after the Albury City Council announced plans to redevelop their existing site adjacent to QEII Square.

Not having the expertise to manage the project themselves, the Childcare Committee approached our Club for assistance. The Club agreed to the request with the offer, the original intention being to provide professional advice, arrangement of grant applications and discounted material services rather than financial assistance.

Before long the Club’s role expanded to include project management and extensive hands-on support.

This continued for the duration of the project which was completed in 2009, almost 2½ years after its inception.

The Albury Childcare and Early Learning Centre, as it is now known, is the longest running child-care service in the Albury-Wodonga area and continues to play an important role in the care and wellbeing of the area’s children.
